Warehouse Dimension Link
I'm excited to finally be releasing this. Many end users love the (Inventory) Site (Financial) Dimension link. This lets you tie a financial dimension to the inventory dimension site. Typically I have seen this used with both the inventory and financial dimension having the same name: Site. However, this new release will let you use that functionality if you would like or bypass it and move the link down a level in the inventory dimension hierarchy to Warehouse. The software can be downloaded from the link below as a model. This model also contains all other utilizes available on this blog. Once installed, go to General Ledger > Setup > Financial Dimensions. Create a new dimension using values from "Warehouse", like so:
Next, go to General Ledger > Setup > Chart of Accounts > Configure Account Structures and add in the new dimension where appropriate. Below is an example of what that may look like but each instance will be different.
After that, go to Inventory Management > Setup > Posting > Warehouse Dimension Link. Select your warehouse dimension in the drop down then associate each inventory warehouse with a warehouse financial dimension. All warehouses must have a financial dimension. If the site financial dimension value is active, it will display on the warehouse but only the warehouse value is considered when posting transactions.
After that, it functions very similar to the Site link. Activate the link to start getting the warehouse financial dimensions to default from the warehouse. Lock the link to default then make the financial dimension read only. This is more an RC than a full release so devs and tech people, pick it up and check it out. Report any issues over at GitHub or message me on twitter. This was tested against AX 2012 R3 CU12. If there is interest for earlier version of 2012, please let me know. Also currently working on porting this to D365 both 7 and 8.
