Below is a simple conceptual check list of tasks that need to be performed to promote a model store from one environment to another. Your specific implementation may differ slightly based on environment size and third party tools that you have configured.

  • Start Draining some AOSs so they down faster
  • Prepare Model Store in Target environment
  • Stop Management Report Services
  • Stop Third party AX Services like Atlas
  • Disable SQL Job to Process AX Cubes
  • Stop all AOS(s)
  • Backup Transaction Database
  • Backup Model Store Database
  • Apply Model Store in Target Environment
  • start 1 AOS
  • perform a DDL Sync
  • Start AOS for Report Deployment, if applicable
  • Deploy Reports with Powershell
  • Restart Terminal Service Print Spoolers
  • Enable SQL job to Process AX Cubes
  • Start Third Party AX Services like Atlas
  • Start Management Report Services
  • Ensure all Services came back online and returned to normal operation
